The Abstractions are a puppet troupe created and performed by Grant Harding. Harding is a member of the Ontario Puppetry Association and is involved annually with the Puppets Up! international puppetry festival in Almonte, Ontario. He has attended workshops and master classes with Peter Balkwill, Richard Coombs, Matt Ficner, Tim Gosley, Trish Leeper, John Pattison, and members of the Czech troupe Docela Velke Divadlo. The Abstractions website has been online since 2004. Since that time, their body of work has included collaborations with slam poet Oni the Haitian Sensation and up-and-coming singer/songwriter Kellen Barrett, and Harding's videos and mechanisms have been featured on various puppetry blogs. He has presented over fifty puppetry workshops to children of all ages. Harding is also a volunteer at Rogers Television, with experience in camera, audio, titles, and switching. The Abstractions are currently based in Ottawa, Ontario. |
